DVG America Membership Questions

How do I join DVG America?

Join through a DVG America member club. Use the club directory to find a nearby club or one that accepts paper members, then contact that club to complete your membership.

Can any dog breed participate?

Yes. DVG America is an all-breed working-dog sport organization. Dogs do not need to be a particular breed or registered with a breed registry to train and compete.

What membership types are available?

DVG America offers full voting member (VM), spouse or partner (S/P), and youth (JGDL) memberships.

Do clubs charge additional dues?

They may. Published DVG America rates include national and regional KG dues, but individual clubs may charge separate club dues for training, facilities, or local operations.

How to Order a DVG Scorebook

Cost and payment

New scorebooks are $18 each. The administrator will arrange payment separately before processing. A subsequent book is free when your current book is full; lost or missing books do not qualify.

  1. Step 1: Complete the application

    Complete the online scorebook application.

Keep your membership current and use the name and address on your DVG membership record.

    • Upload registration papers, if applicable.
    • Include your previous scorebook if you already have one.
    • Upload up to 4 files: PDF, JPEG or PNG, 4 MB each.
  2. Step 2: Application review

Your club officer and DVG America review your membership, details and documents before submission to Germany. You will be contacted if corrections are needed.

Submitting an application does not confirm approval.

Processing time

Apply at least 8 weeks before your trial. Shipping from Germany typically takes 2–8 weeks; processing and delivery times vary.

If your book is delayed

If you applied more than 8 weeks before your trial, contact the administrator at least 2 weeks before the event to request an exception. Include the trial secretary's contact details. Exceptions are reviewed individually and require approval.

If approved, your book number is sent to the trial secretary and judge. When the book arrives, give it to the judge to record your scores. For later applications, plan to have the physical book at the trial.
